First introduces by Caterpillar in 1996 and manufactured exclusively in the USA the D11R is one of the largest bulldozers currently manufactured by Caterpillar.
The initial run of D11R’s had a 8ZR serial prefix and featured a 3508B engine that produces 915 gross horsepower, fingertip controls, electronic clutch brake, electronic transmission control, and a heavier single shank ripper are all standard options found on the CAT D11R.
Starting in 1997 Caterpillar made modifications to the D11R by increasing the horsepower and torque, advanced cooling system, as well as making modifications and improvements to the undercarriage, track roller frame and power train. The 97 D11R’s have a 9TR prefix.
In 1998 Caterpillar again introduced a modified D11R this time with a 9XR serial number prefix. These came standard with twin turbos, high sprocket, engine control power system and electro-hydraulic implements controls.
In 1999 CAT introduced an additional two D11R models with the serial prefixes 7PZ and AAF. Both of these models come standard with a 3508B EUI engine, autoshift, pin-on fenders and the fuel capacity has been increased to 425 gallons.
The AAF model is a carrydozer while the 7PZ also includes a vital information display system and electro-hydraulic implement controls.
